Cohort Sample Bios

The program's current students and alumni represent mid to senior level executives from across the region. With an average of 18 years professional experience, they represent many diverse industries including technology, healthcare, engineering, and manufacturing. By bringing their real world experiences into the classroom, the participants are able to connect their ideas and solutions across industry boundaries, creating an interactive and dynamic environment.

More than 75% of our alumni have experienced positive career outcomes during their time in the program and all have indicated their participation in the UK/UofL was integral to their ongoing success.

Charles Snavely

Charles Snavely is the Secretary of the Energy and Environment Cabinet for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He had an extensive career in the energy sector, where his 36-year tenure provided a comprehensive view of the intricacies of the coal mining industry, including every role from engineering to executive management. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Kentucky Coal Association. Charles is a native of Eastern Kentucky and earned his Bachelors in Science in the field of Mining Engineering from Virginia Tech. He is passionate about helping Eastern Kentucky to grow and diversify economically.

Shailaja Rao Veligandla, M.D.

Shailaja Rao Veligandla has been a practicing physician for 10 years in eastern Kentucky. Her educational background includes a medical degree from the Gandhi Medical College in India, an Internal Medicine residency from St.Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis Missouri, followed by an Infectious Diseases fellowship at Creighton University and Southern Illinois University.

Kevin Stakelum

Kevin Stakelum is the Talent Acquisition Director for Humana Inc., where creates the strategy and provides the leadership and direction for all aspects of talent acquisition for the company, an organization with more than 50,000 employees. Under his guidance, Humana’s Veteran/Spouse hiring initiative has earned 15 awards for excellence from numerous outside organizations. Kevin is a veteran of the Louisiana and Mississippi Army National Guard and holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Louisiana Tech University.

Allyson Wolfe

Allyson Wolfe is a leader in the human resources field, currently serving as the Senior Vice President and Director of Human Resources for Hilliard Lyons. With a 20-year background in HR, Allyson has been exposed to multiple industries throughout her professional career, including healthcare, manufacturing, and property management. She has previously served as President of the Louisville Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management with a concentration in Human Resources from the University of Louisville. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and a Society for Human Resource Management - Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).

Robert Morphonios

Robert Morphonios is the CEO and Project Director of WVB East End Partners, the organization responsible for the Ohio River Bridge East End Crossing Project. This $1.17 billion project is only the latest in a career spanning 28 years in the civil construction industry. Robert earned his Bachelor of Science in Building Science from Auburn University. Despite recently relocating to the Louisville area, he is an integral part of his community as a member of his local YMCA and supporting such organizations as the Alzheimer’s Association of Kentucky.

Haley McCoy

Haley McCoy comes to the program from a successful career in the non-profit sector. She has recently joined the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development as Executive Advisor and serves on the Executive Committee of SOAR (Shaping Our Appalachian Region) as well as the Board of Directors for the Christian Appalachian Project, the 11th largest human services charity in the nation. Haley earned her Master of Arts in Theology from the Lexington Theological Seminary.

Mostafa Fraig, M.D.

Mostafa Fraig joins the program from the University of Louisville, where he is the Vice Chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine for Anatomic Pathology. His medical and academic background of 24 years includes numerous publications in his field as well as multiple honors and awards as a faculty member. Mostafa also serves as a representative and board member of the University of Louisville Physicians. He earned his medical degree at the Tanta School of Medicine (Tanta, Egypt) and did postgraduate studies at the Cairo University School of Medicine.

Claudia Goggin

Claudia Goggin is Manager of Supplies Development and Materials Technology at Lexmark.  In 2013 she was selected for Lexmark’s Executive Readiness Program. Claudia is also a leader in her community, serving on the boards of the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning as well as the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE). Along with holding numerous patents, Claudia has a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida and a Diplôme d'Ingénieur from the Chemical and Textile Institute of Lyon (ITECH) with a specialization in Formulation Chemistry.

Michelle Kleiber-Viglione

Michelle Kleiber-Viglione is the Director of Reliability and Maintenance for the Cushman & Wakefield Life Science Vertical, where she utilizes her engineering background to lead continuous improvement initiatives for both clients and internal constituents. She is active in the Society of Women Engineering and serves on the Board of Directors for the Professional Abilities Association of America. Michelle holds a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the University of Louisville and earned her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Long Beach.

David Jude

David Jude comes to the program with more than 20 years of experience in law enforcement, including his current posting as Captain with the Kentucky State Police as Dry Ridge Post Commander. His consulting firm, dpj Consulting, offers safety training programs to many types of professional organizations. David remains committed to his community by serving as Immediate Past President of Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky and Head Coach of the Bourbon County High School girl's tennis team. David holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Technology from Eastern Kentucky University.

Susan Zearfoss

Susan Zearfoss is a proven leader in two widely different areas. She is an Electrical Engineer by trade and comes to the program with 25 years of experience from Lexmark, where she is a Product/Area Owner and System Architect. Susan is also passionate about her non-profit work for the Lexington Ballet, where she holds the position of Treasurer and has been instrumental in their resurgence in the community. Susan holds a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University.

Thomas Pogue

Thomas Pogue is an integral member of the team at Delta Faucet Company, where he is a Plant Manager with direct responsibility for an entire manufacturing facility. His comprehensive background includes a Six Sigma Black Belt certification, engineering management, and team development responsibilities. As well as being an active member of his business community, he has partnered with Butler County’s local schools to develop technical career and education paths for high school graduates. Thomas earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Western Governors University.

James Thompson

James Thompson oversees 17 states as the Regional Operations Manager at Diversified Crop Insurance, a division of CGB Enterprises. While currently supporting the insurance side of the agriculture industry, his 14-year career has brought him significant experience in the small business side of agriculture as well. James donates time to community organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Management from the University of Missouri.

Kevin Bauman

Kevin Bauman a skilled relationship manager with an extensive background in fundraising and development. He currently serves as the Director of Major Gifts for the University of Louisville, building upon his earlier roles in the state of Texas. Kevin volunteers his time to numerous organization including The Houston Rodeo and Amigos de las Americas. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas with a double major in Government and Latin American Studies.

Lee Hamilton

Lee Hamilton is a Strategic Account Manager for multinational corporations with Markem-Imaje, a leading global product identification and traceability solutions provider. He actively participates in community initiatives with his family through the YMCA. Lee received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, an institution he proudly supports today.

Brian Horsley

Brian Horsley is an accomplished professional with more than 16 years of experience in the field of engineering. He is currently serving as Senior Project Manager and Account Manager for EN Engineering, with responsibilities for strategic planning and relationship management for his firm’s largest client. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky.

Chandler Jenkins

Chandler Jenkins currently serves as Sales Operations Specialist at ZirMed, a provider of financial and clinical management solutions for the healthcare industry. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Eastern Kentucky University.

Maor Schaal

Maor Schaal brings 24 years of experience in technology, engineering, and project management on an international scale to the program. He currently works with Humana to implement key IT initiatives for the healthcare industry. Maor’s previous experience has a world-wide footprint with a variety of companies. He holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion).

Brad Keller

Brad Keller is an accomplished operations professional with 18 years of experience in program leadership, strategy development and business consulting; currently leading corporate real estate strategies and customer relations as Director of Workplace Strategic Consulting for Humana. He remains grounded serving his community as a paramedic on a regular basis. Brad earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the University of Louisville.

Andrew Klawier

Andrew Klawier is an ambitious entrepreneur who is the CEO at GroomHQ. He has a diverse background including experience in journalism and service as an officer in the United States Marine Corps. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Finance from Miami University and has participated in the Velocity Startup Accelerator.

Daniel Miller

Daniel Miller is the Southern Regional Sales and Service Director for Central Garden and Pet, which designs and produces products for the lawn and garden and pet supplies markets. After graduating from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Danny spent three years as a group service manager at Bass Pro Shops prior to joining Central Garden and Pet in the sales function six years ago.

Joseph Patterson

Joseph Patterson has a strong background in mechanical engineering and extensive leadership experience from his 14-year career at Flanders, a service and manufacturing company based in Evansville, IN. He is currently a start-up business owner. He previously served as the Chairman of the Executive Committee for the Tri-State Manufacturer’s Association. Joe earned his Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Rose Hulman Institute of Technology.

Jonathan Linn

Jonathan Linn is a leader in the medical practice setting of One Health, an affiliate of Owensboro Health, serving as the largest health care system west of Louisville, KY. He is an experienced health care professional in both the hospital and medical practice settings. He is an active volunteer in organizations such as the United Way and the American Cancer Society. Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Systems Management from Western Kentucky University.

Amber (Amy) Florence

Amber (Amy) Florence has more than 13 years of experience in the equine industry and currently serves as the Vice President of Finance for the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, a non-profit membership association within the equine industry. Amy earned a Bachelors of Science in Accounting from the University of Kentucky.

Laurie Young

Laurie Young is a leading Senior Account Executive for American City Business Journals, where she devotes her skillset to helping clients with business development and marketing strategies so they can grow their business. She is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the Legal Marketing Association. Laurie holds a Bachelor of Science in Business, with a Concentration in Business Management from Northern Kentucky University.

Chris Bachman

Chris Bachman is an accomplished Home Mortgage Consultant and Private Client Mortgage Banker. He brings a wealth of knowledge from his tenure with employers such as Wells Fargo and JP Morgan Chase. In addition to his more than 11 years of experience in that industry, he also holds a Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Georgia. In his spare time, Chris actively supports Autism Speaks, an autism advocacy organization.

Justin Williamson

Justin Williamson is the Vice President of Operations Technology for Alliance Coal. Prior to that, he oversaw the acquisition of Matrix Design Group, where he served as Senior Vice President from 2006-2010. Justin graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and Sociology. He has over 19 years of experience as a network engineer, network administrator, and information technology executive.

Wendell Followell

Wendell Followell has dedicated his 30-year professional career to making the Kentucky Community and Technical College System one of the very best community college systems in the nation, currently serving as Vice President. He holds a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Kentucky, with a concentration in Financial Management. Wendell is extremely active in his community, donating his expertise to everything from neighborhood associations to community theatre.

Robert Hall

Robert Hall has a 24-year background in both technology and medicine, currently holding the role of Senior Manager of IT Operations with Canopy Partners, Greensboro, NC. A Kentucky native, Robert did his undergraduate studies at Morehead State University. He is a leader in his community, donating his time and talent to multiple organizations, including a position as board member for the local Little League.

Adam Hunt

Adam Hunt is the Sales Training Manager at Pizza Wholesale of Lexington, Inc, having proven his abilities at every level of the business during his 10 year career. He also has a strong background in retail sales and management. Adam serves on the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors for Hunt Advantage Group, the master distributor of Hunt Brothers Pizza. Adam holds a Bachelors in Business Administration from Eastern Kentucky University.
